Dr. Nizara Hazarika is an Associate Professor of English at Sonapur College, Assam. She has a PhD in ‘Colonial Assam and Women’s Writing’ from English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. She has been teaching the undergraduate students for the past 24 years and is a PhD Supervisor of Assam Downtown University. She has acted as a Resource Person to conduct Workshop for College and University level teachers. She has been awarded UGC Associateship by IIAS, Shimla. She has published widely in books and journals. So far she has authored a book entitled Colonial Assam and Women’s Writing and edited five books, namely, Interpreting Heritage: A Discourse on Heritage at Risk, Contemporary Indian Women Novelists Writing in English: Critical Perspectives, Social Equity and Sustainable Development , English Language Teaching in India: Problems and Prospects and Identity: Critical Perspectives. She has presented her research papers both in India and Abroad. She has been awarded scholarships by the Regional English Language Office, US Embassy, New Delhi to pursue Online Courses from the various Universities of the USA. She was granted a scholarship by the US Department of State to participate in an International Professional Development Program in the US in 2013. She has been awarded Travel Grant by the UGC twice in 2013 and 2017 to present her research papers in IAFOR International Conference at Osaka, Japan in 2013 and in the Fifteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities for a Knowledge Society” at Imperial College, London on July5 th -7 th , 2017 respectively.
