She teaches at the Centre for English Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She is specialized in Early Modern Drama and have published articles in the area in Studies in Philology, Comparative Drama, and Research Opportunities in English Drama among others. Recently, organized a seminar on Shakespeare in Asia at the World Shakespeare Congress 2016. Her research interests include Renaissance historiography, economic criticism, travel narratives, Indian (especially Bengali), literature, suabaltern movements, and translation and adaptation. She has also published articles on subaltern religious cults and has translated Suprakash Ray’s Bharater Krishak Bidroho O Ganatantrik Sangram into English. Currently, she is completing a book on India in seventeenth-century British writings. She has received Visiting Fellowship at Trinity College, Dublin, 2016, awarded Fellowship at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, 2010 and Visiting Fellowship, University of Cambridge, 2009.
