Sovan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Patna Science College, Patna University, India. Prior to joining this post, he worked as a Research Scholar in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. In 2017, he was awarded the Dora Plus Visiting Doctoral Fellowship (part of EURDF Erusmus+ grants) to the Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore, Institute of Cultural Research and Arts, University of Tartu, Estonia, Europe. He has served as a faculty member in a couple of technical and general degree institutions, both private and public. He has a keen interest in the fields of folklore and oral narratives and has published a few research articles on Bengali folk ritual tales. Apart from that, his research interests and publications cover Literatures of Indian Modernity, Indian Writing in English and Contemporary South Asian Literatures. Some of his publications feature in internationally recognized journals, indexed by Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Citation Index, AHCI and Emerging Sources Citation Index, ESCI), Scopus, and European Reference Index for the Humanities (EIRH Plus), and are published by such globally acknowledged publishers as Taylor and Francis (Routledge), John Benjamins Publishing Company, Roman Books (London) among others.
